I am now discontinuing this journal.

It was meant to be my personal diary, read by a few friends or whatever. It was brought to my attention today how widespread the readship of it is, and I'm not comfortable with my personal thoughts, experiences and rants being read so broadly. And so I think this is best to protect the confidentiality of myself and the people around me.

I'm going through and removing all the entries from being accessible to the public, though for the time being, I plan to keep the journal account open so I can read posts made by my friends, though once I've gone through the last two years worth of diary entries and printed the things I want to keep, I may delete the account completely.

I know I can protect things, but this was meant to be my diary, and now I feel slightly violated and I don't feel like writing in it anymore.

I certainly don't want to have to intellectualise about the type of style my LJ will take from here, or be overly concious about what I'm writing. It defeats the point... when the point was for it to just somewhere I could waffle.

I'm not even vanishing from LiveJournal. I'm just going to stop writing in mine, for the time being I'm still going to read and comment on my friends entries.

But would it convert everything to friends-only, including entries with a higher level of protection than that? There are several custom-protected entries that I don't want being read by my whole friends list.

nope it only takes your public entries and makes them friends.. look on the ljnifty community.. you'll find the widjet there
